Brits get revenge on 'selfish' Zante holidaymakers who wage sunbed wars at hotel

Their actions in the viral TikTok video have split opinion online

If a holiday to Zante didn't already seem like bad enough of an idea, some of the hotel staff there are seemingly getting sick with tourists who try to reserve sunbeds with their towels.

Despite popular beaches and the beautiful weather on offer on the Greek island, it has been transformed into a party hotspot for young adults in more recent times.

While some Brits have gotten into serious trouble for behaving badly at their hotels while abroad, with one mum currently banned from leaving Turkey, it seems as if the tourists who left out their towels at 6am were let off with a slightly severe punishment.

Some hotels have even been issuing fines as a way of dealing with these so-called sunbed wars, but some of the young staff at a hotel in Zante decided for a simpler and arguably funnier plan of action.

In the viral video, hotel staff who were returning home from a night out at 6am, which is impressive in itself, decided to move all the towels that had been put by the pool in the early hours, hiding some on railings, up trees and on top of seven-foot walls.

Millie, from Blackpool, Lancashire, explained: "We live at the hotel because we're working here and a load of tourists are staying here now.

"They came and put their towels by the pool.

"Nobody does it. You just don't because we're in Zante.

"We'd all had a little bit to drink and then we started hiding their towels around the hotel and everything.

"I don't think that you should reserve sunbeds because obviously here nobody gets up until about three in the afternoon so there's literally no point.

"It's quite selfish because half of these people they're not even getting up. Then the people that are getting up then don't have a lounger. It's so annoying.

"It's so annoying. Obviously this is our home right now.

"We've scared them off. They haven't done it since."

Some people around the hotel have reportedly been speaking about the video after it hit well close to 40k likes on the platform.

Millie added: "I've heard people talking about the TikTok.

"A couple of girls I was sat next to at the pool, I've never spoken to them and they were like, 'I've seen this TikTok, it was at this hotel and people were moving the towels.'

"I was just laughing. I wasn't expecting it to go viral. Every time I go on there's like another thousand likes on it.

"Some people were agreeing with it. Some people think you shouldn't touch other people's stuff but it's a towel.

"People in the comments were so bothered. It was only a joke, because we're in Zante we're not posh.

"It's the kind of thing you do at a family holiday, you know when you're at an all inclusive. It's that kind of thing."

People in the comments of the video felt their actions were justified, claiming that the sunbeds should be first come first serve, whereas others suggested that they could have gone about it in a more civilised way.
