An Aldi shopper in Australia has been left stunned by the kindness of a stranger, who offered to pay for her shopping.

According to The Mirror, Helen from Queensland, Australia, detailed her experience on a Facebook group, where she revealed she let another male customer move in front.

She said that after his groceries were scanned and paid for she began unpacking what she had to buy, but spotted the man waiting at the checkout nearby.

When Helen went to pay for her groceries, she was pleasantly surprised to see the other customer step in to pay her bill of about £137 ($187).

The random act of kindness was performed after the "nice thing" she'd done for him by letting him go ahead of her in the queue.

According to the Facebook post seen by The Mirror, she said: "Did my weekly shop today at my usual Aldi and there was a bit of a line and only one register open.

"When a second register opened, I motioned for the man in front of me in the other line to go first even though I was closer because he was there before me.

"Anyway, he hung around at the front after he had been served and when my groceries were finished being scanned, he stepped up and paid for them! It was $187!

"He said it was because I did a nice thing for him. I didn't think anything of letting him go first because he was there before me.

"What he did for me was a lot nicer than what I did for him, I couldn't believe it!"

Applause for the kind stranger poured in on the Facebook post.

"So wonderful to see they're still kind people in this world both of you deserve credit for your kindness," one person commented.

"So nice to read something positive for a change. Nice people do exist. Someone did similar for me in a service station line paying for petrol once, I will never forget it and always pay it forward when I can," said another.
