Small Puppy 'Dumped On Chair On The Side Of The Road'

A puppy was found sat on an armchair by the side of the road, after having been dumped from a passing car, it has been reported.

A resident claimed to have witnessed the small brown dog being thrown out of a truck along with some furniture. They then called animal control, in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to report the shocking incident.

Local welfare officer Sharon Norton responded to the call and went to investigate. After seeing the 'scared and starving' pup on the roadside, she decided to post the animal's tragic story to her Facebook page.

The post, which was accompanied by several photographs, said: "I get a message this morning to go check out this dog that's in the chair, this is what I pulled up and seen.

"To the person that dumped this chair, your puppy was waiting for you to come back, slowly starving to death because it was afraid to leave the chair to find food.

"Shame on you for doing this to this puppy... but one day karma will meet up with you."

Since she shared the moving post, dozens of animal lovers have commented, praising Sharon for her actions and condemning the person who abandoned it.

One person said: "Oh this breaks my heart. Poor baby!!! God bless you for saving him. I'd look in back of chair or down sides for papers to see if I could find a name of [who] may have done this."

A second wrote: "We are so lucky to have officer Sharon Norton looking after animals of all Kinds in our town. Her heart is all the way in it."

A third concerned resident commented: "I hope the person who did this sees themselves all over the news and is ASHAMED."

While another added: "That is so mean. They need to be arrested & the key lost forever. Pets has feelings to. We may not know who you are but God knows & you will pay for doing that. That is cruel!!"

According to reports, the unnamed puppy is currently being cared for by the Brookhaven Animal Rescue League and will be put up for adoption once it has returned to full health.
