Woman Films Bear Stealing Packet Of Crisps From Californian Grocery Store

Smarter than your average bear!

A woman managed to capture on video the incredible moment a bear wandered into a store in California to grab a bag of crisps for a midnight snack.

Talk about being smarter than your average bear, right?

Adina Baidoo was walking out of a Safeway shop in Lake Tahoe on Tuesday (18 August) when she spotted a large brown bear going out of the automatic doors as if there was nothing strange or terrifying about that.

In the short video, Baidoo walks towards the grocery store to show the large bear was in there, before someone honks their horn to warn her she is getting too close to it.

Sure, in this day and age it is important to get a decent video of things like this, but you still shouldn't be approaching a huge brown bear that is clearly hungry.

Why else would it be stealing crisps?

Anyway, after reassuring the person she doesn't plan on getting too close to the large creature, she could be heard to say: "This bear... has gone into Safeway and has decided he's going to go shopping."

Weirdly enough, it wasn't even her first encounter with a bear that day, either.

Baidoo explained she had been driving earlier and attempted not to hit a bear, but then tipped up to the store to find one stealing snacks.

The brown bear grabbed a packet of Tostitos and headed outside the store, plonking himself down near the entrance to eat his stolen bounty.

Then, as the clip ends, the bear can be seen leaving the store with the bag of crisps in its mouth.

Baidoo shared the video on Facebook with the caption: "So there was this woman walking out of Safeway and almost into a bear... that was me... I'm the woman."

To be fair, it's not exactly unusual that you might see a bear like this in Lake Tahoe. It's in the Sierra Nevada Mountains that straddle the border between California and Nevada.

It is very much bear country up there.

However, it goes without saying that you should take care when you see a bear, because they're large mammals capable of tearing a human limb from limb, especially if you get between them and their packet of crisps.

This one seemed pretty placid, however. He just wanted to grab something to eat, and clearly there was no ranger to steal a picnic basket from.
