Since leaving The White House in 2017, Barack Obama has continued to be successful in many areas of the world. Obama is most well known for his two terms as President of the United States which ran from 2009 until 2017. Aside from this Obama is a published author who also won the Nobel Peace Prize in October 2009 for his efforts at international diplomacy and foreign policy.

Obama began his career lecturing at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 1996, becoming a Senior Lecturer from 1996 to 2004. During this period in his life, Obama also earned a salary whilst he served three terms in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2005.

In 2005 Obama also received a multi-book deal with Random House publishing, being given a $1.9 million advance after January 2005 for his book The Audacity of Hope. Since then, Obama and his wife Michelle signed a lucrative deal in 2018 to produce series and films for Netflix with Michelle stating in the official announcement that, “Barack and I have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire us”. In 2020 Obama gained another $65 million deal which included his latest book, A Promised Land, and also included Michelle Obama’s memoir.
In 2018 whilst on a trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, Obama revealed he is shocked at how wealthy he has become after his presidency. In a speech calling for higher taxes on the rich, Obama was quoted saying that “I'm actually surprised by how much money I got” and he joked that “there's only so many nice trips you can take”.
Nowadays, Barack Obama and his wife Michelle own houses in both Washington and Massachusetts, which hold a combined estimated value of $20 million. Both these beautiful houses are more than big enough for them and their two daughters to enjoy. Their house in Massachusetts sits on a sprawling 29 acre estate with beautiful sea views, seven bedrooms, two guest wings, an outdoor swimming pool and if all this wasn't enough, its own private beach!
