Christmas has come early for Twirl lovers as the miniature bars found in Heroes boxes are being replaced with larger versions of the iconic chocolate.

Heroes boxes typically include some of the nations favourite sweets - Dairy Milk, Dairy Milk Caramel, Twirl, Wispa, Eclaire, Dinky Decker, Crunchie, Fudge and Creme Egg Twisted.

However, if you're a Twirl fan who loves indulgent chocolatey swirls, wrapped in smooth Cadbury milk chocolate, then you'll be gifted with two single sticks of 21g chocolate, rather than the teeny weeny bites you'd usually get.

Heroes fans are stunned by the change and have taken to social media to showcase their amazement.

One person tweeted: "Excuse me why is there a normal size twirl in my box of Heroes!?"

Another commented: "When your in need of a mid shift chocolate hit and find a full size twirl in the Miniature Heroes! #winning."

People are already noticing the larger Twirls in their Heroes boxes.

A third person wrote: "This is the Twirl in our box of Miniature Heroes. Only they're not Miniature Heroes any more - they're just Heroes!! And some of them are randomly massive!"

Someone else added: "When you open your tub of @CadburyUK’s Heroes and find two single Twirl bars inside alongside all the other chocolates."

"Hi @CadburyUK any reason why I’ve not got any twirls in my hero’s just two long ones? #heros #Cadbury #twirl," a concerned fan also asked.

Another pondered: "They're now putting entire twirl bars into the Heroes tubs??? @CadburyUK what is the meaning of this."

Well, it turns out that Cadbury aren't just giving, for the sake of giving, rather it's due to supply chain issues and availability.

A spokesman for Mondelez – the company that owns Cadbury – told LADbible: "We’re facing the same challenges that many other food companies have reported in recent months, including supply chain disruptions which has impacted the availability of Cadbury Twirl products in our Heroes 600g Tubs.

"To ensure we can continue to bring our loyal consumers the products they know and love, we have temporarily substituted treatsize / bitesize Cadbury Twirl in Heroes Tubs, to the slightly larger Cadbury Twirl 21g across a small percentage of tubs produced.

"Rest assured consumers can enjoy the same amount of chocolate as before with the overall weight of the product remaining the same."

If you're one of those more health conscious types that wants to watch what you eat this Christmas, first of all, good luck.

Second of all, each Twirl only contains 114kcal so you don't need to worry too much if you fancy a little treat before Xmas dinner.

Watch out for the sugar though as each finger contains 12g.

But hey, if you don't put on a few pounds over Christmas, are you even doing it properly?
