Former High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale is pregnant with her first child.

Announcing the news on Instagram, the 35-year-old - who played Sharpay Evans in the hit show - shared a snap of her looking down at her bump alongside husband Christopher French:


The post has received almost two million likes since it was shared yesterday (Thursday) with her 12.8 million followers.

Christopher also shared a similar snap on his profile:


Writing on his story, he said: "Hey everyone. We are so moved and filled with joy by the amazing and beautiful outpouring of love from all over the world for this little one.

"Thank you so much."

Ashley and film and TV composer Christopher have been married for six years, tying the knot in 2014 a year after getting engaged.


As well as starring in High School Musical, Ashley is also well-known for playing Maddie Fitzpatrick in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody.

She went on to release three albums, the most recent of which was released last year.
