Recess Voice Actor Jason Davis Has Died, Aged 35

Actor Jason Davis, who famously worked on the Disney show Recess, has died.

The sad news was confirmed in a statement from his family, who are devastated at his sudden passing, aged just 35.

His mum, Nancy Davis, has released a heartbreaking statement to The Hollywood Reporter, which said: "I am so heartbroken to share the saddest news of my life that my son Jason Davis passed away this morning in Los Angeles. Jason had a true heart of gold with such a zest for life.

"He was such a caring soul to everybody who ever knew him. He loved his friends and his family above all else. We ask for privacy as we take time to grieve this most devastating loss."

His cause of death isn't yet known.

Davis used his voice to portray the 'gentle giant' Mikey Blumberg on the hit TV show Recess. The voice actor was in that role from 1997 until 2001 during a whopping six seasons.

According to his IMDb page, Jason also was involved in Dave's World and Roseanne, Millionaire Matchmaker and Jessabelle, as well as a string of films including Rush Hour, Beverly Hills Ninja and Mafia!

He also appeared on Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, which had a look at his treatment for substance abuse, including heroin, OxyContin and Xanax, according to the Daily Mail.

During the programme, he explained how he had relapsed twice during this battle to overcome his addiction, however was sober at the time of filming.

Davis has been very open about his issues with substances and addiction. He co-founded Cure Addiction Now, which helps fund research for people suffering with similar issues to him.

He was working on a TV show called The Two Jasons at the time of his death.
