Donald Glover has addressed the Joe Rogan and Dave Chappelle controversy.

Glover, widely recognised by his stage name Childish Gambino, referenced the social media backlash that the pair have experienced in recent moments during a bizarre self-interview for Interview Magazine.

Previously, Chappelle was criticised for joking about transgender people in many of his Netflix comedy specials.

Meanwhile, Rogan was criticised in the past for speaking about Coronavirus in an ill-informed manner on his podcast The Joe Rogan Experience.

This led to many musicians, including Neil Young, to boycott Spotify, which exclusively streamed the podcast.

More recently, when Glover interviewed himself in the recent article, he reflected on the Rogan and Chappelle controversies, writing about the pair: “You are who you are.”

Further on in the interview, he returned to the two media personalities as he spoke about ‘what role’ criticism has in his life.

“You have to sift through and try and see if someone is debating in good faith,” he wrote. “The internet doesn’t provide a large enough amount of that. You know what? I’ll tie in my Joe Rogan and Chappelle answer now, too.

He clarified: “A lot of people believe both of them are doing what they do in good faith. It’s not cynical. It’s not CNN or Fox. It doesn’t feel to most people like they’re trying to sell something.

“People are looking for other people to interact with in good faith. Because a lot of this rage is artificial. People have emotional diabetes and don’t even know it,” he explained.

Elsewhere in the interview, Glover spoke about the casting change for Amazon’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith in light of Maya Erskine replacing Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

He explained how Waller-Bridge left the cast due to ‘classic creative differences’ before going on to say, “I still like her. I assume she still likes me.”

LADbible has contacted a representative of Donald Glover for a comment.
