Joe Rogan isn't usually an easy man to surprise, but Donald Trump managed to pull it off with a dark joke during the UFC event at the White House.
UFC Freedom 250 took place on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14, with a host of big names attending the MMA event that celebrated the 250th anniversary of the United States of America, as well as President Donald Trump's 80th birthday.
Tyson Fury caused a stir by teasing he had 'big news' on his future at the showpiece, while fighter Josh Hokit perpetuated a far-right conspiracy by claiming that 'Michelle Obama is a man.'
Trump was spotted flashing a brief smile following the defamatory comment, and was reportedly cracking jokes about his own potential assassination at the event – leaving podcaster Joe Rogan in shock.

How Donald Trump left Joe Rogan shocked at UFC Freedom 250
Speaking on the Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show with fighter Just Gaethje – who defeated Ilia Topuria in a shocking upset to claim the UFC lightweight championship in the main event in Washington D.C. – and MMA trainer Trevor Wittman, Rogan revealed his exchange with the President, during which he shared his fears about the event being targeted by terrorists.
"I said to Trump, I go, 'I hope we don't die in a terrorist attack,'" Rogan said, before revealing Trump's blunt joke in response: "He goes, 'We got to go somehow'."
The remark from the 'Leader of the Free World' caught Rogan flat-footed.
"I go, 'what the f**k, dude?'" he said, while laughing.
Security concerns at UFC Freedom 250
Rogan wasn't the only one worried about the security risks at such a high-profile event, with Wittman sharing the apprehension he felt during proceedings.
He said: "I was like, 'dude, there's like, just again, being around everybody and something could happen'."
Gaethje, on the other hand, wasn't quite as concerned about the terrifying prospect and accepted the risks before competing. He said: "F**k it. If I get taken out in the middle of the cage, how f**king legendary would that be?"
Their concerns weren't unfounded, as the US Justice Department said on June 16 that five men had been arrested and charged for allegedly plotting to carry out an attack and kill government officials and others attending the event.

FBI Director Kash Patel said: “On June 10, FBI and our law enforcement partners became aware of a potential threat to the UFC America 250 event in Washington, D.C. involving individuals outside of the National Capital Region — and thanks to the rapid action of this FBI, our partners, and the Department of Justice in a multi-state operation, multiple individuals are now in custody and allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold.
“While the result represented the best of investigative work, it was also nothing out of the ordinary for this law enforcement team — we are built to detect, respond to, and bring to justice those who threaten the lives of American citizens — particularly during large gatherings like the historic UFC 250 fight.
"That’s exactly what we did here. I want to thank our great agents and partners, this work remains ongoing and we will continue to update the public as permitted."
