Final Fantasy XVI is set to blow your socks off with its new dark chapter in the universe

Clear the calendar, folks, as Final Fantasy is back, and it’s bigger than ever.

The first fully-fledged Action RPG in the mainline Final Fantasy series will see a dark fantasy world where the fate of the land is in the hands of mighty creatures known as Eikons and the Dominants who seize control.

The PlayStation 5 game will follow Clive Rosfield, a skilled swordsman and First Shield of Rosaria, tasked with protecting his younger brother Joshua - Dominant of the Phoenix.

And, of course, unexpected events take place, which puts our hero on a dark and dangerous road to revenge.

But if you’ve never dabbled in this franchise, not to worry, as Final Fantasy XVI welcomes new and familiar players to a brand new story, world and characters of this beloved game.

Players will be transported to the medieval fantasy land of Valisthea, with six nations with crystals of their own.

The aether provided by these towering mountains of crystal powers the magicks that have enabled these nations to thrive for many years.

However, peace is now threatened with the mothercrystal fading as a destructive force called The Blight takes over. Players will play as Clive as he battles against his enemies in intense real-time action combat.

This standalone Action RPG blockbuster title for PlayStation 5 delivers spectacular, cutting-edge graphics, a dark fantasy story, and dynamic real-time action combat on a scale never seen before with Final Fantasy.

PlayStation also dropped a demo this month, which has fans absolutely drooling, and is already shaking up to be one of the year’s biggest game releases.

One fan wrote: “So excited to play this - hoping I can finish it before the FFXIV FanFest next month!”

Another said: “I'm really impressed, it promises to be a really good game and the first such mature Final Fantasy in history, I can't wait.”

While another marveled: “The demo impressed me, looks good and the graphics are really good.”

For over 35 years, the Final Fantasy series has delighted generations of gamers and has sold over 173 million copies worldwide.

And we suspect this new story in the franchise will be no different.

So prepare to set foot in Valisthea come June 22 and expect to have your mind blown.
