Doctor explains why average British penis has 'grown nearly 10% in two years'

The average size of one's manhood across the UK has seen a sharp increase for a number of reasons

A medical professional has revealed why the average penis size across the country has grown by almost 10 percent since 2022.

Yes, that's a real statistic, but why has the number grown so much (pun intended)?

It's a shocking increase that will leave some men wondering how this could happen, but the fact of the matter is, just two years ago, the average todger size was 5.17 inches across the UK, when in 2024, the figure now stands at 5.63 inches when erect.

This works out to an 8.9 percent increase, and brings the nation up in the world rankings.

It puts Brits at eighth in terms of penis growth, but for overall size, the country ranks at 60th. Seems alright.

If we look further South and slightly West, Venezuelans are far superior, as the average penis length for their country grew by 1.42 inches in the same amount of time, which means the average erect penis there is 6.67 inches.

Obviously, every body is different and size isn't the end-all and be-all, but these varying sizes and increases in the past few years are peculiar - so, what is causing this, exactly?

Dr Chun Tang, medical director at Pall Mall Medical, spoke to Metro to explain the changes to the male anatomy across the world.

"Over long periods, human anatomy can change due to evolutionary pressures," he revealed.

"For instance, traits perceived as advantageous for reproduction or sexual selection might become more prevalent."

Basically, men with bigger members might be having more children than men with smaller or previously average sized ones.

In addition to this, the health expert believes that another reason is that different populations have mixed, meaning the general population has become more diverse, affecting penis size.

Increased immigration and countries becoming more culturally diverse is also a factor, while environmental factors such as health and fitness play a part too.

Dr Tang said: "Improved nutrition and health during developmental periods as a child and teenage years, can lead to better overall physical development including genital growth."

It's another benefit that health and exercise brings if you look after yourself, as if we didn't need another reason to get our trainers and sweat on.

Working out increases your endocrine function, which is when your endocrine glands release hormones into the bloodstream and play a part in your growth and reproductive health in your earlier years.

And hormones are crucial, as Dr Tang explained: "Levels of testosterone during puberty, play a significant role in the development of secondary sexual characteristics including penis size."

It should be noted that the data collected to determine penis size growth was done with results from a number of studies, where some were self-reported.

As expected, this could bring about some issues, as some men may have lied about their size, but the idea that anything less than huge isn't good can damage someone's self-confidence, leading them to develop a term, crudely coined as 'dickmorphia'.

This describes when someone is constantly concerned about the size of their manhood, but in the medical world, it's known as penile dysmorphic disorder or small penis anxiety.

A 2013 study states that only a third of men are happy with the size of their parts, but what science and experience has showed people is that size is not what ultimately matters.
