Man only injected half of his face with botox to see what would happen after two weeks

He took it upon himself to compare both sides of his face after injecting one with Botox

A man decided to make himself the subject of an experiment based around the effects of Botox.

Celebrities have popularised use of the neurotoxin in a method which theoretically slows aging by having an effect on your muscles.

A number of people have participated in Botox-related experiments over the years, with a set of identical twins even comparing their appearances as one used botox and the other didn't over the course of 20 years.

While they can help to remove wrinkles and help you appear younger in the short-term, the long-term effects of the injections have also been outlined by experts, such as blurry vision or droopy eyelids.

Overall though, the effects of Botox injections tend to be short-term, with other health side-effects such as bruising or a headache common.

But what differences can you expect to experience as days go by after the injection?

YouTuber Arlo Medical Injections decided to see what Botox actually does to your face, deciding it would be 'more fun' to show everyone what really happens.

He said that it'd been a while since he had treatment, meaning the lines and wrinkles on his face were coming back.

So, he decided to inject just half of his face with 39 units of Botox on his right side and documented the changes for up to 14 days after the procedure.

Pointing out that he had crow's feet, forehead wrinkles and frown lines.

Here's everything that happened afterwards.

Couple of hours

At this point, the bruising started to come down, as well as the redness and swelling.

He explained that you could go about your day in this state, not reporting any negative side-effects, though the Botox hasn't started to come into play yet.

Three days

Here, we can see the Botox, which blocks nerve signals and causes a temporary paralysis of the injected muscles, start to take effect.

Less wrinkles are visible on the right side of his face, but the main talking point is his crow's feet, which had faded despite being very prominent beforehand.

One week

The content creator showed that his crow's feet had almost completely faded, while his forehead wrinkles continued to become less visible on that side, with the difference in sides of his face more noticeable.

He also noted that his frown lines on the Botox side had slowly started to fade.

10 days

Though he says it's 'not as dramatic' as the differences from day three to day seven, his crow's feet had disappeared, while you can see how it really looks on the other side of his face, which was left natural.

His forehead and frown lines became far less noticeable too, with viewers more than able to see the difference between treated and untreated sides.

Two weeks

He explained that the main effects are noticeable 'at the one and a half week mark', adding that he didn't aim to freeze his face, but limit movement so that wrinkles were less visible.

While the changes aren't drastic from the previous checkpoint, it looks like his wrinkle lines on that side are gone, as well as his frown lines.

So, while he has no lines on that side of his face, he can still freely make facial expressions without looking odd.
