A man who has been taking Mounjaro has shared a 'disgusting' side effect he experiences which he feels 'nobody' is talking about.
Despite Mounjaro only recently becoming available as a weight loss drug on the NHS, with extremely strict eligibility rules, the alarming growth in online pharmacies that offer the drug means that some are able to get their hands on it privately.
The GLP-1 medication, which was primarily designed as a treatment for those with Type 2 diabetes, works by mimicking a hormone within the body which produces insulin, working to reduce appetite, reduce blood sugar and make users feel fuller for longer.
Of course, most drugs come with pros and cons, with some studies even suggesting that Mounjaro could help protect the body against neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia.

However, other than the obvious problem of some users putting the weight that they have lost back on as soon as they come off Mounjaro, there are other potentially serious side effects that users can go through.
Naturally, people are less keen to mention the side effects that we polite Brits don't like to talk about, such as the diarrhoea and cramps often associated with the medication, with one man now opening up about an unexpected bodily function he's faced.
Speaking on the Have a Word podcast, comedian William Thompson said: "You know when you're in a garage and you see all the sweets. Now you show me and I'm just not bothered.
"Don't get me wrong, there's side effects to doing it. The one that no one really mentions is the burps are horrendous."

He went on to tell hosts Adam Rowe and Dan Nightingale that he's 'done farts to cover up some of the burps I've done'.

On 'Mounjaro sulfur burps', the Oxford Online Pharmacy adds: "Some people on Mounjaro injections experience sulphur burps or egg burps. Mounjaro burping is caused by delayed gastric emptying. The longer food stays in the stomach, the greater the opportunity for fermentation by gut bacteria, producing gas with a distinct sulphur-like smell."
Despite the various drawbacks, Mounjaro has proved life-changing for some users, such as a woman who lost six stone during her weight loss journey.
Eli Lilly, the company that manufactures the drug, has previously stressed to LADbible that the GLP-1 medication should only be taken when prescribed by a doctor or healthcare professional.

They added: "Patient safety is Lilly’s top priority. We take any reports regarding patient safety extremely seriously and actively monitor, evaluate, and report safety information for all our medicines. The Mounjaro (tirzepatide) Patient Information Leaflet warns that burping is a common side effect. We encourage patients to consult their doctor or other healthcare professional regarding any side effects they may be experiencing and to ensure that they are getting genuine Lilly medicine."
