Canadian Girl Guide Sells Loads Of Cookies Outside New Weed Shop

Canada only legalised weed last week, but already some of the country's more enterprising entrepreneurs are making some serious cash.

One clever young girl guide called Elina Childs simply tipped up outside a brand new weed shop in Alberta, Edmonton, with a truck load of cookies and sold the whole lot.

That's some pretty smart business for someone so young, right there.

Her and her dad grabbed three boxes of sweet biscuits and walked up and down the line at the shop selling them. It's so simple, it's genius.

In times gone by, the nine year old girl would go door to door trying to flog her wares, but this way is easier, quicker, and definitely more lucrative.

She had a bit of help, to be fair. Her dad, Seann, said that they came up with the idea when they saw the huge queues of people gathering outside the newly opened marijuana shops. He also said that they'd had a tough time with their previous approach to selling the cookies so were looking for another way.

Seann told CNN: "Last year, she got bit by a dog, it wasn't bad but we were still apprehensive,

Well, it certainly paid off. In fact, it paid off to the tune of C$120 (£70) in the space of just 45 minutes.

Because she is only young, Elina didn't know exactly what was going on, or what made her cookies so popular, but customers are customers, right?

Seann continued: "She didn't quite understand what the big deal was,

"She was just selling cookies in her mind, but everyone was so happy to see her, and kept congratulating her."

Canada became the largest country in the world to legalise cannabis last week after a long campaign by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to change the legislation.

A lot of people were excited about their newly gained freedom to use cannabis, but some have been left disappointed by high prices as well as low availability. Some places have been hit by shortages as a result of the high demand.

Also, the legislation has actually introduced new levels of complication to the use of cannabis, varying from place to place. Despite that, it has so far been largely deemed to have been a success.

It's certainly good news for Girl Guide cookie sellers.
