Donald Trump Suggests He'll Build His Own Social Media Site

The former President suggested 'millions' of people are leaving Twitter because he's no longer on it.

After losing the 2020 US Election, Donald Trump didn't have an easy few months.

He wholeheartedly believed he had beaten Joe Biden and used social media to rally his ardent supporters to keep following him. That was a move that caused him to be booted from the likes of Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Pintrest, Twitch and other social media platforms.

It's been months since we've seen an all-caps message from the former President and the time away from all the apps was said to be doing Trump well.

But he hasn't ruled out starting his own social media network.

Speaking on Newsmax, Trump's new favourite media outlet, the 45th President of the United States claimed loads of people are leaving Twitter because he's no longer on it.

"I'll tell you it's not the same when you look at what's going on with Twitter, I understand it's become very boring, and millions of people are leaving," he said.

"They are leaving it because it's not the same. And I can understand that."

When asked whether he would want to move to Parler, the 'free-speech' social media app, Trump said he was keen but admitted 'mechanically they can't handle' the amount of traffic that would happen if he joined.

He added: "There is also the other option of building your own site because we have more people than anybody. You can literally build your own site."

Interestingly, this idea has been floated before.

After Donald Trump got kicked off all the major social media apps, his son, Don Jr, called on Elon Musk of all people to see if he could use his ingenious brain to create a new one just for the former President.

Posting a video on Instagram, he said: "This guy put manned people into space. He did so privately. He took on big government and did it better, cheaper, faster than they ever could. This is the guy to do it."

He says that he thinks the SpaceX boss could be the right person to do it after he took on 'West Coast high tech' for becoming the 'de facto arbiter of free speech'.

Don Jr. continued: "Someone like him has the brilliance to come up with something that blows Twitter away.

"I am not looking for a conservative echo chamber, I want a platform to argue my ideas vs someone else's and not just people in a place telling me what I want to hear.

"Elon why don't you do that. Get out there and come up with a concept. I think you are literally the guy to save free speech in America."

We'll have to wait and see if this becomes a reality.
