If the pandemic has seen you move from the office to your home for work - and you happen to be a pet owner - then you have probably experienced your dog/cat/lizard incessantly pester you for attention while in the middle of a Zoom meeting.
If this scenario sounds all too familiar, then you may benefit from watching crafty inventor Simone Giertz create an impressive chair made for needy pets who'd enjoy nothing better than to be perched by your side while you work.
Posting the initial preview of the video to Twitter, she captioned the sneak peek: "I built a chair for needy pets that always want to sit next to you."
She's uploaded the full creative process to YouTube where she goes into detail about the inspiration and painstaking work it took to bring her idea to fruition.
The YouTuber drew up her prototype in Adobe Illustrator and Fusion 360 and got to work.
Her design includes a chair with a built-in staircase that lets your pet to climb up and down. The seat is extra wide so they can sit right next to you while you work. There's also a little nook by your feet, meaning your pet another place to sleep.
Simone was quickly flooded with pictures of fellow pet owners and their needy brigade of adorable animals who don't seem to understand the concept of personal space when it comes to getting work done.
One excited commenter wrote: "OMG!!! Put a cushion in the bottom part and all 4 cats could sit by me while I work!!!"
Another added: "I've been working from my couch for a year because my dogs will not let me work at a table. This...might work!"
A third added: "This chair is superb. I need one! My parson russell terrier just stands on my desk and wanders about. He's done it during zoom meetings but everyone just says how cute he is. This chair might encourage him to sleep while I work."
Simone added of the invention: "I definitely need to deck out the nook a bit more! Ran out of time. I was thinking of a carpet and maybe a food bowl."
Honestly, just take my money. Though I don't know how my three giant dogs and lizard would fare being squeezed in on a single chair while vying fr my attention...
Either way, it gets two thumbs, sorry - paws - up from us.
