Grammy award winner Halsey has had her concert descend into utter chaos with flash flooding and tornado warnings barrelling down on her US gig.

The ‘Bad At Love’ singer was scheduled to perform at Merriweather Post Pavilion, an outdoor venue in Columbia, Maryland, before unexpected torrential rain fell from the sky.

The amphitheatre proceeded to flood with ankle-deep water, seeing concertgoers trudge through the murky depths.

Videos posted online depicted utter chaos as the venue was inundated with water, and the concert was eventually called off for safety reasons.

However, floodwaters weren't the only shocking thing all concertgoers got to see.

Halsey fans were stunned to see one member of the Grammy award winner's crew kick a squirrel into the floodwaters as evacuations commenced.

Poor little guy probably just wanted to get a photo with Halsey.

Concertgoers called for staff to help the squirrel, whom they named Chuck, as the poor animal struggled to get out of the water.

The staffer has since been roasted on social media for giving the squirrel the boot.

One social media user tweeted: “This is not the time to be kicking a squirrel and letting it drown.”

Another said: “Why was the squirrel kicked? I do not understand.”

Thankfully the user who had posted the original video confirmed the squirrel was safe and alive and had ‘taken shelter backstage’.

So Chuck lives to fight another day.

Halsey has not commented on the squirrel but did express her regret over her cancelled show.

"Maryland I don’t even know what to say. If you missed my live, I’ll post something soon explaining what happened. But right now I’m heartbroken and panicked and I just want to know when/that you all get home safely," she said in an online statement.

She added: "I love you guys more than anything."

While there was a major concern for the squirrel, there was an overall feeling of frustration with how the venue staff treated fans and their safety.

There were complaints on Twitter about the venue not having an emergency plan in place, while there were claims staff ‘laughed’ at fans for being worried about the conditions.

I really want to add that I am beyond disappointed with the way the venue handled everything tonight and my rescheduled date will be happening somewhere else. I hear you guys loud and clear I promise.
