Police in Melbourne are on the hunt for two thieves accused of breaking into a sex shop and nicking nearly $15,000 worth of goods.

Authorities have released CCTV of the moment one of the men used a metal pole to smash the window of the Airport West Sexyland on January 26.

The robbery occurred just before 2.45am and they made quick work of the store once they were inside.

Detectives have determined they ran off with around $10,000 worth of vibrators and a $4,500 life-sized sex doll named Kitty.

Standing at 165 centimetres, Kitty comes in a range of heights, bust sizes, waist sizes, as well as hip and weight sizes. She can also have her eye colour, hair, skin tone and nail polish customisable.

Sexyland

The Sexyland website says about Kitty: "Each Life Like sex doll is developed from superior materials for soft, ultra realistic feeling skin and breasts that are truly amazing to touch. On the inside is a titanium alloy skeleton enabling her to bend into almost any position."

While the life-sized sex doll is highly sought-after, it seems like the thieves weren't as careful as they should have been in the robbery.

Police say poor Kitty's head was detached in the quick getaway and it was later found in the carpark.

They add the thieves took off in a white Ford Ranger ute with stolen number plates.

9News claims adult sex store robberies are common as demand for sex dolls like Kitty have skyrocketed during the pandemic.

Sexyland's website says Kitty is great at helping with loneliness, so maybe that's why.

Four years ago, a different Sexyland store in Melbourne was targeted and a thief took off with a $4,500 life-sized sex doll named Dorothy.

CCTV showed the man arriving at the store, in Moorabbin, outside Melbourne in a white Ford Transit van in the early hours of the morning.

The Herald Sun said authorities were working with the theory the man used bolt cutters to get through the fence and the fire hydrant to break into the shop where he chose Dorothy from about 12 take-home life-sized titanium alloy dolls.
