Captioning his video: "So. Bit of a shocker. Thankfully I’m here to tell the tale…" Roberts recounted his scary experience.

Last night, the host was rushed to hospital and had emergency surgery when doctors found a 'massive amount of fluid' around his heart'.

He relayed the situation to fans in a video from his hospital room, where his show Homes Under The Hammer was playing.

"Well, I have to say this isn’t where I expected to be watching Homes Under the Hammer. Little bit of good news, little bit of bad news. I ended up in hospital in Bath yesterday.

"I had a few chest pains and just feeling generally lousy, so I was brought in here, and turns out I had a massive amount of fluid all around my heart, which was actually stopping my heart working.

"Had they not got rid of it, which they did in an emergency operation last night, then it’s sort of quite serious, like, hours to live kind of c***."

The host went on to 'thank god and angels, all those things' as he lived to tell the tale.

Remaining in good spirits, he went on: "There’s lots of other complicated things that have happened as a result, but we will work through those, and I’ll keep you updated.

"Meanwhile, there’s a good TV show on that I think I’ll watch here," he noted, in reference to his show playing in the background.

People quickly responded to the news on Twitter, with one saying: "Gosh, hope you’re ok you’re in great care, there - it is truly amazing the things they can do to treat hearts these days!"

Thankfully, Roberts is now doing okay following his scare.

While one user said Roberts' experience had encouraged them to get checked out: "Oh my hope your doing ok now? Scary stuff isn't it?

"I have a lot of health stuff going on and have been putting off going to docs but you have pushed me into doing it , hope you get better soon buddy."

Roberts' scare comes just weeks after he voiced his frustration at Costco because they wouldn't let him bulk buy Calpol when trying to gather supplies for Ukrainian refugees.

In a video posted on social media, he was overcome with emotion, declaring 'we've got to do what we can' and recounting how other shoppers bought more medicine to donate on his behalf when they realised what he was doing.
