McDonald's announces return of Chicken Big Macs

McDonald’s has announced the almighty Chicken Big Mac is returning to menus – and you won’t have to wait long to chow down on the poultry-based burger, either, but you will have to be quick once it’s out.

The Chicken Big Mac was launched last year in February, when it caused such a frenzy that it sold out in no time at all.

Maccies said in a tweet at the time: "Well, that escalated quickly. Your love for the limited edition Chicken Big Mac knew no bounds and it’s sold out almost everywhere.

"Thank you for lovin' it even more than we thought you would, it'll be back soon."

Naturally, once it disappeared from menus, it didn’t take long for fans to beg McDonald’s for its return – and now their wish has been granted.

The product, which is a mashup of a Big Mac and a chicken burger, features a triple layered bun and two 100 percent chicken breast patties covered in a crispy coating, all tucked up nicely with a slice of cheese, lettuce, pickles and a smothering of that Big Mac sauce you know and love.

It's returning to restaurants later this month.

Costing from £4.49, with prices varying across restaurants, the Chicken Big Mac can also be bought as an ‘extra value meal’ for £6.09.

It will land in McDonald’s across the UK and Ireland on Wednesday 29 March at 11am, just in time for a cheeky early lunch break.

However, McDonald’s warned in a press release: “Fans will need to be quick to get their hands on it this time round as once it’s gone, it’s really gone…”

Last year, the Chicken Big Mac sold out in mere days after it was released as a limited edition newcomer, so you’d better get your skates on if you fancy a bite of the action.

The fast food giant added: “The Chicken Big Mac caused a frenzy on its debut launch in February 2022 - leading it to sell out in in days after customers just couldn’t get enough of it.

“News of the re-release will be music to the ears of the heartbroken fans who couldn’t get their hands on the highly anticipated burger before it left the menu last year.”

It features a triple layered bun and two 100 percent chicken breast patties.

Also joining the Chicken Big Mac is the new Steakhouse Stack, made of two 100 percent beef patties, a slice of cheddar cheese, crispy onions, red onions and lettuce, topped off with a creamy peppercorn sauce and stuffed inside a freshly toasted bun.

The Steakhouse Stack will cost from £5.39 and £6.99 for a meal, although prices will vary.

Thomas O’Neill, Head of Marketing, McDonald’s UK and Ireland said: “We are excited to bring the Chicken Big Mac back to the UK and Ireland.

“It sold out in under a week last year so we know so many people will be as delighted as we are that it’s returning this Spring.

“The Steakhouse Stack is another fantastic development from our Menu team, the taste of steak and peppercorn sauce captured perfectly in this newest addition to our menu – delicious!”
