The most photogenic restaurant has been revealed, and you might be surprised to know it’s in the UK.

A new study analysing hashtags on Instagram has identified the most popular locations for taking snaps across the globe.

Top of the list is Sketch in London – and it’s not hard to see why.

Looking like something straight out of a Wes Anderson film, for many years its main dining room drew in customers with its candyfloss-pink interior and dozens of quirky prints across the walls.

More recently, the venue was given a full makeover and it’s just as stunning, featuring golden hues and art by Yinka Shonibare, whose work explores cultural identity, colonialism and post-colonialism within the contemporary context of globalisation.

The Mayfair hotspot attracts guests from across the globe, many of whom take the opportunity to share a snap of the sophisticated setting on social media.

In fact, according to analysis conducted by photo printing firm Inkifi, Sketch has received 83,045 posts in 2022 so far, making it by far the most featured Michelin restaurant on Instagram.

The food there is similarly unique and sophisticated, making this a definite place worth visiting if you ever find yourself in London.

It’s quite the jump from Eleven Madison Park in New York, US, which came in second place with 43,922 posts.

Even so, this restaurant is situated in the heart of one of the most famous cities in the world, drawing in diners with its picturesque views of the Manhattan park.

In third place is Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy, which has garnered 38,071 Instagram posts this year.

Widely known for its fine dining experience, the three Michelin star restaurant serves up creative and artistic dishes, all of which have made it a top choice for Instagram users worldwide.

You can check out the rest of the top 10 photogenic restaurants below:

4. Pierre Gagnaire – Paris, France – 27,668

5. Arpége – Paris, France – 27,393

6. Martín Berasategui – Lasarte, Spain – 22,889

7. El Celler de Can Roca – Girona, Spain – 21,700

8. DiverXO – Tetuán, Spain – 21,326

9. Guy Savoy – Paris, France – 21,221

10. The French Laundry – California, US – 20,875

Beyond restaurants, Inkifi also looked at hashtags for multiple categories, including hotels and landmarks.

If you’re wondering how the UK compared in these areas, they highlighted a number of findings, including that London’s skyline is one of the most Instagrammed, ranking third in the world next to Chicago and New York.

The capital is also home to three of the world's most photogenic theatres – the Royal Albert Hall, the National Theatre and the Royal Opera House.

Somehow, the UK also managed to make it on the top 10 most photographed beaches thanks to Brighton, which came in at number six.
