Mum Of Five Claims She Only Buys Food For Her Family Every Six Months

The YouTuber chooses to avoid that weekly shop by stockpiling all the essentials twice a year

A busy mum of five has shared her huge $5,635 (£2,762) food shop that will supposedly last her family for an entire SIX months. Watch the clip below:

If you’ve grown tired of doing a dreaded weekly supermarket shop, then perhaps this less demanding approach could work for you.

Video creator Tabitha Kelley has revealed how she does a food shop just once or twice a year – stocking up on all those essentials to feed her family for months at a time.

In a recent video, the mum from Michigan, US, revealed: “We are a family of seven and we have five kids and this is just what works for us, not everybody would like to make this huge haul in one trip but that’s just how we like to do it.

“We’re hoping about four to six months that this will last us.”

In order to avoid waste, Tabitha continued: “It requires a lot of effort on my part, with organising and meal planning.”

The video then pans to their family kitchen filled to the brim with all the essentials – food, toiletries, cleaning supplies... you name it, they’ve got it.

Purchased from Costco, the stockpile includes six bumper jars of olive oil, a year’s worth of rice, 20 pats of butter and 10 dozen eggs.

In addition, the YouTuber stocked up on 22 packets of pasta, 95 bags of crisps, 24 chicken breasts as well as enough mince to make at least 15 meals for the family of seven.

But the task doesn’t end there – they now have to find a place to store all the excess food.

Tabitha says: “This Costco haul is like an all-day event. We headed out right away when they opened at 10am right now it’s 4pm and we’re still going.

“By the time I’m done putting everything away it will probably be night time.”

Luckily, the family have storage space in their basement to house most of the shop.

However, Tabitha often buys so much food that they’re forced to store items in the hallway, and even the bathroom.

Tabitha added: “We are so grateful that we are able to buy this food for our entire family and feed them for months on end. It’s really worth it even though it takes all day.

“This grocery haul will last my family-of-seven so long, we rarely go out to eat so this is just what we needed.”
