Over almost three decades of making music, Richard Ashcroft has earned himself a reputation as an iconic British singer songwriter. He formed The Verve in 1990 and they became one of the major bands in the Britpop movement, with their 1997 album Urban Hymns garnering widespread critical acclaim, sitting at the top of the UK album chart for 12 weeks.

The band were best known for tracks such as 'Bittersweet Symphony', 'The Drugs Don't Work' and 'I'm A Lucky Man'.

He has since gone on to release four solo albums with his fifth, Natural Rebel, released on 19 October.

The rocker provided support for Liam Gallagher during the summer and is now on a tour of the UK, so he's still keeping himself very busy.

Taking time out to speak to LADbible, Ashcroft discussed the Oasis frontman's 'true spirit', the 'delusional elements' of politics and the 'tremendous amount of mills' in his hometown, Wigan.
