A shocking video has been taken by a passenger on a Ryanair flight that shows a baggage handler dipping his hand into somebody's luggage and stealing a speaker right out of their suitcase.

Diario de Ibiza

The passenger was travelling between Ibiza and Madrid when they spotted the sneaky thief opening a bag and taking out a small speaker, intent on pocketing it.

The outraged passenger immediately alerted one of the air stewards on their plane, and they in turn alerted the necessary authorities. The police, when they arrived, got the culprit to confess to his actions before returning the property to the rightful owner.

That owner was a teenager who was travelling with his mum on the way to Madrid.

As you might well expect, the baggage handler has been sacked and is looking at a day in court for his actions. It's pretty stupid to begin with, but it starts to look really stupid once you realise that he got caught red-handed by someone with a video camera - as if everyone doesn't have a video camera these days.

He had only been working there for three days, as well, and now he's back in the job queue if he's lucky.

It's probably important to note that the baggage handler is not employed by Ryanair, the video just happened to be shot whilst the luggage was being loaded onto a Ryanair flight. The baggage handler is actually employed by the airport.

The video was originally published in the Ibizan island newspaper Diario de Ibiza. They interviewed the teenager's mother, who said: "The police told me it was the third day the man had been working at the airport and returned the speaker to me immediately.

"I was very grateful because I had bought it for my son's birthday."

That said, worse things have happened at airports recently. It's just a matter of going from one type of slithering reptile to another.

This type of snake isn't the kind that rifles through your baggage whilst it sits on the tarmac. Well, at least not to try to get your belongings.

Just the other day passengers waiting to travel at an airport in The Philippines were shocked to see a snake slithering across the terminal floor.

What are you supposed to do in that situation?

Luckily the snake was completely harmless, unless you're a rodent or a small bird. But still, it's not what you want to be faced with whilst you wait for your flight.
