Charlie Brooker is known for his seemingly outlandish predictions about the future, which invariably turn out to be incredibly astute assessments of where society is heading.
And it would seem he has come good again, this time with the coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping the planet.
But it's not his Black Mirror that is responsible for the chilling omen, it's his earlier series Dead Set.
You know, the one where the zombie apocalypse rages outside the Big Brother house, with the contestants totally oblivious to the violent breakdown of society ensues?

Sound familiar? Well, it should after news broke this week that BB contestants in Germany were still blissfully unaware of the coronavirus outbreak had reached such a volatile state.
According to the BBC, the housemates will be told about the pandemic during a live TV special tonight (17 March).
OK, it's not quite a mirror image - there isn't an army of the undead trying to break into the studio and rip into Davina McCall's washboard abs - but you've got to admit, it's not far off.
So close even Brooker himself was forced to acknowledge the similarities between the German BB contestants' ignorance of the current pandemic and the Dead Set housemates' obliviousness to the zombie apocalypse.

Pointing out the eerie similarity, a fan shared an article about the outbreak, writing: "Basically the premise of Dead Set. We're truly all living in @charltonbrooker's world. Stay in the house, housemates!"
And though this kind of foreboding clairvoyance isn't a trait most would wish to claim, Brooker conceded that he clearly has otherworldly superpowers.
He replied: "Okay, f*** it. This is happening so frequently I'm just going to have to accept that I'm a soothsayer or a mystic or whatever you want to call it."
If you haven't seen Dead Set, I would highly recommend it. It's currently available to stream on Netflix and you can watch the trailer below:
While the current state of the world looks fairly bleak - though not as dark as a zombie apocalypse - Brooker said it was a time for us to show the best of humanity and look out for one another.

The dad-of-two said: "With that in mind, I will now make an optimistic prediction in the hope it also comes true: we'll come out the other side of the coronavirus crisis a more empathetic, altruistic, and globally conscious society.
"And I was going to add a cynical punchline here but nope not today."
Now, as you're probably aware, this isn't the first time the television critic has been so close to the bone with his 'fiction'.

For example, in the very first episode of Black Mirror, he famously portrayed a UK Prime Minister doing the dirty with a pig. No one could have predicted that four years later former PM David Cameron would be accused of the same bizarre act.
And a couple of years ago, scientists revealed they were developing robotic bees, which were far too similar to the killer insects in 2016 episode, Hated In The Nation.
As much as we love your shows, Charlie, any chance of getting something a little happier next time, mate?
