The Royal Mint has produced a commemorative £5 coin in honour of the Queen's 90th birthday.

The coin, which has been approved by Lizzie herself, will be available in silver, gold and platinum gold and prices vary from £20 up to a whopping £5,000 for a rare platinum edition. I'd want a week's stay in Buckingham Palace thrown in for that much, though.

Christopher Hobbs, who designed the coin, told the Mail on Sunday: "I wanted it to be a simple design which had the feel of continuity - after all, the Queen has reigned for 63 years."

Apparently, the coin will be offered to pensioners who turn 90 on the same day as the Queen on April 21 - so that's quite sound, isn't it?
