This is the shocking moment a young boy gets a tattoo while sitting on a woman's lap.

The clip, which was filmed in Ohio, shows a number of adults sitting around while the boy, reportedly aged nine, is tattooed by a 16-year-old.

The boy can be seen sat chatting away about playing games, seemingly absolutely fine with the procedure, occasionally asking if it's done.

The woman tells the boy: "Look at me. You're fine. You're almost done."

Part way through the shocking clip, the kid appears to tell the guy doing the tattoo to wait - probably because they bloody hurt - and the woman tells him: "Hey! Look at me. He's not done."

A photo which was shared online after the video shows a poorly designed S on the kid's arm. Of course, it has attracted a slew of comments from shocked social media user who were quick to slam the adults for allowing it to happen.

According to ABC6, police in Bellefontaine are aware of the video and paid a visit to the boy's home where they were told that the boy wanted the tattoo.

Lieutenant Rick Herring said: "The phones have not stopped ringing. We've gotten calls from several different states from people that are concerned for the welfare of this child."

Adding: "The child had actually said he asked for the tattoo."

I'm sure most nine-year-olds ask for all kinds of bizarre shit - the thing is to not allow it, surely?

At this point cops say they are investigating further but as yet are unsure of what and who to charge.

The woman in the clip is not the child's mother, and her mother took to Facebook to try and clear the matter up, writing: "To everyone that wants to message my daughter. [She] is not the mother of that child. The mother is the one actually video taping it. [My daughter] made a bad choice by being involved with it but she did nothing else wrong. Since everyone has something to say. But really this child is not abused nor neglected.

'Does his mother make bad decisions? Yes. But when you got people beating up old people and people actually abusing their kids no one says nothing. Everyone acts like they have never made a bad choice in life. So, if you adults out there could stop messaging my kid and telling her to kill herself that would be great. All you perfect people need to look in a mirror because I bet none of you would want your bad choices put out like this."
