Typhoon Mangkhut has been tearing through Asia, leaving a huge trail of destruction in its wake. Not only has it been knocking pedestrians off their feet in Hong Kong, over in the Philippines it's also turned one couple's wedding from joy to complete terror within seconds.

Randy Manaois, 29, and his bride Jennifer, 28, were getting married on Friday - a day before Typhoon Mangkhut (also named Ompong) caused landslides on Luzon Island in the north of the country, with the death toll currently standing at 64.

In the clip, you can see the newlyweds reach the dancefloor, bridesmaids clapping nearby to the sound of upbeat music - which is when a look of concern spreads across their faces, as a large crack erupts overhead, followed by huge rumbles of thunder. The windows shatter as the electricity cuts out, leaving the room in darkness.

Guests begin to scream and run for cover as the effects of the storm break through the venue, tearing down the power cables outside.

Randy said: ''It happened so fast. Everyone was excited and things were moving quickly. Then we heard the sound and there was a flash in the mirrors. There was a big crash above the roof and everything was blacking out.

"My wife was scared and everyone was panicking. I am thankful that everyone was safe, but we are sorry to all our guests. We did not know that such a tragedy will happen. My wife is still in shock.''

Metro Manila, the country's central region, has also been experiencing the effects of the approaching super typhoon - and its 200mph winds.

Many other parts of east Asia have also been hit by the storm, including Hong Kong, where authorities have issued the maximum alert - a red alert - and warned people to stay indoors.

"It's the worst I've seen," local Martin Wong told Reuters.

"I've not seen the roads flood like this, (and) the windows shake like this, before."

One Twitter user, @WizDayTrader, also shared a shocking video clip of people on the streets in Hong Kong, where you can see someone get pushed into the wall by the strong winds, while another is struggling to get their feet.

"If you thought Florence was bad... check out Cat5 #Mangkhut in Hong Kong right now," the video was captioned.

Stay safe out there...
