Woman who works on 2,000 person nude cruise shares golden rules everyone knows to follow

You don't want to be the one to forget these

A woman who organises nude cruises has revealed the important rules that all of the guests know to follow.

These days, more and more people are open about what they get up to after their nine-to-five, and a lot of the time it seems to involve not many clothes.

While some folks prefer to head out with their partners to swinging festivals or cruise ships where upside down pineapples are a strangely common sight, others simply like to spend time relaxing in their birthday suits.

And while you might think that nude cruises are based around sex, you'd actually be wrong, as it's simply a form of expressionism for the 2,000-strong attendees on a US-based cruise ship.

Kat Whitmire has worked for Bare Necessities Tour and Travel since 1997 and has a pretty good grasp of the best way to enjoy the nude cruises, having progressed from a model to cruise ship organiser and vice-president.

She told Business Insider: "Nudism is about leaving judgment behind. When you're not wearing clothes, you can't immediately tell someone's economic status or how they vote; you have to talk to them to find out who they are. Our guests form deep friendships that I don't think form as readily on a textile cruise.

"We're not a swingers' cruise. This is not lifestyle travel. There are plenty of those travel opportunities out there, but that's not what we do."

Kat also shared some of the most important rules to remember if you're ever aboard a nude cruise, as forgetting any of these could prove to be a bit embarrassing, or potentially even get you kicked off the ship.

She explained: "We have rules aboard the ship. The most important one is that you have to ask permission before taking a photo with someone else in it.

"Men can't be overly excited. We say that if they start to feel things around moving down there, jump in cold water, or think about baseball.

"Dinner in the formal dining room has a dress code, largely because the waitstaff carries trays of hot food. 'No nips, no bits, and no butts' is what I always say to remind people of our dinner-dress code.

"Dinner is the only time guests must wear real clothes — no mesh, nothing see-through, and nothing made of string."

While it might seem surprising, not everybody aboard the ship is nude either, as the captain and the crew with all be wearing clothes, which might come as a bit of a shock if you're the first person to board.

Although you might be quick to write it off, the cruises have taken passengers all over the world and helped to build long-lasting friendships, as it means you're not immediately judging a person based on what they wear.

And if you are interested, just don't forget a towel.
