A personal trainer got his own back in the best possible way after someone left a nasty comment on one of his social media posts.

James Smith is a personal trainer who posts plenty of videos online giving viewers handy guides on health and fitness.

Not wanting to take the abuse lying down, Smith tracked down the man who left the comments and called him up for a quick chat.

Realising he was speaking to the guy he'd just insulted online, the man down the phone immediately backtracked to say how sorry he was.

He went on to say he was only 'taking the p**s' and actually had a lot of respect for Smith's work.

Posting the phone call to TikTok with the caption 'no one is safe', Smith said 'man woke up and decided to be Liam Neeson'.

The message sent to Smith which sparked this whole situation read: "Your getting fat dude. Lots of confident fat dudes about.

"In the City of London, they have lots of money. This has clearly happened to you. You need to give your wealth away and check your macros and workout harder."

As soon as he got the call the man pivoted to saying he was 'very sorry' and 'very honoured to get a call' from the personal trainer.

Luckily for him, Smith wasn't about to go full Taken on the guy and just wanted to know what the man's problem with him was.

The phone call even ended on a friendly note with the pair wishing each other a good day, proof that behind many of the mean comments made online are people who would be much more pleasant in real life.

Plenty of other commenters were impressed by the way Smith handled the situation, with many saying the personal trainer was 'good for calling him out'.

Others even praised the bloke for accepting he had been called out for his words and apologising for what he said.

Smith said he'd been able to track down the man's own page - the guy being a personal trainer himself - and got the phone number from there.

The impressive detective work involved in tracking the mean commenter down shows he has a very specific set of skills beyond his personal training.

If you make mean comments to him on the internet he will look for you, he will find you and he will give you a very stern talking to until you say you're sorry.
