Piers Morgan Announces Return To TV One Year After Storming Off GMB

After Storming off ITV's Good Morning Britain Piers Morgan has announced his return to TV

Piers Morgan has announced his return to TV after storming off ITV's Good Morning Britain 'a year ago today'. Watch the announcement below:

Today (9 March), the 56-year-old posted the announcement on social media and looks to have his heart set on proving a point to the critics.

As shown in the clip above, he said: "I was forced to leave a job that I loved at the peak of its success, for having the audacity to express an honestly-held opinion.

"Well, this shouldn't happen in any democracy, supposedly built on the principles of free speech and freedom of expression.

"So I'm delighted to now be returning to live television with a new primetime show, whose main purpose will be to cancel the cancelled culture, which has affected societies around the world. I want it to be a platform for lively vigorous debate, the news-making interviews, and that increasingly taboo three letter word 'fun'.

"I also want it to annoy all the right people.

"I'm Piers Morgan uncensored."

Although it isn't completely clear what his next role will be, he tagged the page @PiersUncensored in the announcement, which could be the name of his new 'debate show'.

The description of 'Piers Uncensored' reads: "He's back. And this time, he's uncensored. Coming soon."

Last year, the British TV host came under fire for his views on the interview between Meghan Markle and Oprah, with Morgan declaring he didn't believe a single word the Duchess of Sussex said.

When the show went to air the following day, his GMB colleague Alex Beresford challenged him on his views and told him he needed to be more sympathetic to people when they talk about mental health.

Talking about the interview and the couple's decision to leave the UK to start a new life in the US, Beresford said: "They have had an overwhelming amount of negative press.

"I watched the programme yesterday and yes they had some great press around the wedding, but what press is going to trash someone's special day?

"There was bad press around the engagement, before the engagement and everything that has followed has since has been incredibly damaging, clearly, to Meghan's mental health and also to Harry."

Speaking to Morgan, he added: "I understand you don't like Meghan Markle, you've made it so clear a number of times on this programme and I understand that you had a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off.

"But she's entitled to cut you off if she wants to – has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don't think she has, yet you continue to trash her."

Morgan clearly didn't like what was being said and stormed off the show. He insisted the walk off during a live broadcast wasn't a stunt and he was truly annoyed with what was being said.
