Joe Biden Has Already Removed Donald Trump’s 'Diet Coke' Button

Reporters say a button on Trump's Oval Office desk would summon a staff member with a Diet Coke

Joe Biden has wasted no time settling into his new role and sitting behind that lovely big presidential desk inside the White House.

However, eagle-eyed political journalists have noticed that one thing Biden doesn't have is former president Donald Trump's 'Diet Coke button' sat on his desk.

The box next to the former president's phone.

Yep, while this might sound like a bit of a joke, several respected and serious political journalists have all attested to the fact that on Trump's Oval Office desk there was a small box with a little red button on it.

When pressed about what the box and the button did, Trump would push it and - ta dah - a member of staff would appear carrying his favourite fizzy drink on a silver platter.

The existence of the box was revealed all the way back in 2017, when Associated Press journalist Julie Pace wrote: "Midway through my interview with President Donald Trump, he reached over and pressed a red button on his desk in the Oval Office.

"It didn't trigger a nuclear launch or send advisers scurrying into the room.

"Instead, a White House butler walked in with a single glass of Diet Coke on a silver tray for the commander in chief."

Fair play, that is bloody living, isn't it?

Times Radio's Tom Newton Dunn, who was one of the first to point out that Biden didn't have the button, shared a similar story on Twitter.

He wrote: "President Biden has removed the Diet Coke button.

"When @ShippersUnbound and I interviewed Donald Trump in 2019, we became fascinated by what the little red button did.

"Eventually, Trump pressed it, and a butler swiftly brought in a Diet Coke on a silver platter. It's gone now."

A sad loss, if you ask me.

Trump, who reportedly knocks back up 12 glasses of Diet Coke a day, was quizzed about the box in a 2018 interview, when a Financial Times reporter asked him if the button unleased a weapon.

But Trump quickly assuaged the journalist's fears, saying: "No no, everyone thinks it.

"Everyone does get a little nervous when I press that button."

But it looks as though Biden isn't as keen - maybe he's more of a Pepsi Max kind of guy.
