Pubs Across UK Are Giving Out Free Pints If You Have One Of 23 Surnames

You'll have to be quick if you want to take advantage of the offer

It's Friday afternoon, which means it's virtually the weekend. And as such, you will no doubt be counting down the minutes until you can clock off and head to the pub.

If this sounds like you - it's everyone - we have some bloody brilliant news for you... well, at least some of you.

Over the coming days, pubs across the country are handing out free pints to customers, but only if you have one of 23 possible surnames.

Told you there was a catch.

The women's European Championships kicked off earlier this week, and Greene King pubs are serving free pints to customers who share a surname with a player from England's squad.

So, if you pop down to your local - if it happens to be a Greene King - to watch their remaining two group stage matches, you could be in for a treat.

The offer is only in place during the matches, which are being screened by the brewery at 810 of its pubs, so you'll have to make sure you get down and support the Lionesses if you want to take advantage.

And if you do take them up on the offer, you'll need to to take your ID with you.

Speaking about the promotion, Chris Conchie, Head of Marketing for Greene King sport said: "Despite the fact that the Women’s Euros tournament grows in popularity each year, there is still a massive lack of awareness and support for the individuals who make up our incredible team.

"This limited time offer isn’t just about a free drink, it’s a chance to show support right across the UK for our Lionesses and champion the incredible UK talent on display on the world stage."

Sadly, the offer isn't available in Scotland, but a full list of participating pubs can be found on the Greene King website here.

And if you want to see if you qualify, here's a full list of the England squad:

  • Mary Earps
  • Hannah Hampton
  • Ellie Roebuck
  • Millie Bright
  • Lucy Bronze
  • Jess Carter
  • Rachel Daly
  • Alex Greenwood
  • Demi Stokes
  • Lotte Wubben-Moy
  • Fran Kirby
  • Jill Scott
  • Georgia Stanway
  • Ella Toone
  • Keira Walsh
  • Leath Williamson
  • Beth England
  • Lauren Hemp
  • Chloe Kelly
  • Beth Mead
  • Nikita Parris
  • Alessia Russo
  • Ellen White

If you do decide to take them up on the offer, though, don't do what Tyson Fury did.

The heavyweight champion of the world was spotted in a boozer in Aintree with a few mates recently and whipped his top off when he started to get a bit of attention.

According to Toni, a bartender at The Queen, Fury popped in to use the toilet but ended up sticking around for half a pint.

It was only once people recognised him and started asking for photos that he returned from the toilet with his T-shirt off, Toni explained.

She told the Liverpool Echo: "Nobody noticed him at first as he just walked through the bar we were not that busy then I popped my head up and saw Tyson Fury.

"I said to one of my colleges 'is that Tyson Fury' and his manager said, 'Yeah it's him'.

"He then came out of the bathroom and started taking photographs with everyone, he was only in there for five minutes. He had a suit on originally but I think he took his top off because everyone had already noticed him."

As I said, he's one of the hardest men on the planet, so no one is really gonna argue with him, are they?
