A team doctor for Denmark has confirmed that Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest yesterday when he collapsed during the team's Euro 2020 match against Finland.
During a press conference, medic Morten Boesen said: "He was gone. How close were we? I don't know."
He went on to add that the 29-year-old midfielder was unconscious when medics reached him on the pitch, saying: "When I got to him he was on his side, he was breathing.

"I could feel a pulse, but suddenly that changed and we started to give him CPR.
"The help came really fast from the medical team and the rest of the staff with their co-operation, and we did what we had to do and managed to get Christian back."
Boesen continued: "We don't have any explanation why it happened. The details about what happened I am not quite sure of because I am not a cardiologist, I will leave that to the experts. I didn't see it live, only on screens afterwards."
Eriksen collapsed on Saturday during Denmark's opening Euro 2020 match with Finland before being treated on the pitch after referee Anthony Taylor immediately called medics over.

The statement continued: "The team and staff of the national team has received crisis assistance and will continue to be there for each other after yesterday's incident.
"We would like to thank everyone for the heartfelt greetings to Christian Eriksen from fans, players, the Royal Families from both Denmark and England, international associations, clubs etc.
"We encourage everyone to send their greetings to the Danish FA, where we will make sure they are all passed on to Christian and his family."
After it was confirmed that the Inter Milan player was stable, his teammates resumed their fixture in Copenhagen, with Finland claiming a 1-0 win thanks to Joel Pohjanpalo's 59th-minute goal.

National team boss Kasper Hjulmand struggled to hold back the tears during his post-match press conference and revealed they had the choice of finishing the Group B opener on the night or returning to play the following day.
He said: "I could not be more proud of this team, who take good care of each other.
"There are players in there who are completely finished emotionally. Players who on another day could not play this match. They are supporting each other. It was a traumatic experience."
