Tonight's 2024 Olympics opening ceremony in Paris has had a number of noteworthy moments, but it looks like one in particular has taken the cake.

A lot has happened in three or so hours, and it looks like the weirdest moment has come and passed. Take a look:

Social media users were lost for words when they saw a man lying on a platter of fruit, painted blue, for some reason, who has been branded a 'blue scrotum'.

On X, one user said: "Who had seeing a blue scrotum on their Olympic opening ceremony bingo card. For teenagers of the 90s this is like Eurotrash the movie. Incroyable"

Another added: "The world is dying, there's war and catastrophes... Meanwhile France," with a photo of the man.

A third said: "#Paris2024 Opening Ceremony has felt like an acid trip"

And a fourth posted: "Paris Olympics, what the hell is going on with your opening ceremony!"

While a different user said: "The last part of the #Olympics Opening ceremony is like a Eurovision Mashup".

So far in the opening ceremony, we've had a Lady Gaga performance, the death of the Minions and many, many boats to welcome the world's nations to the games.

The ceremony has been dubbed a thoroughly bizarre affair by majority of viewers, who were ‘confused’ by the performances.

One fan posted on X to say, “Truly bizarre Opening Ceremony. I am so confused”, before following up with a reply saying: “I’m pretty sure we’re supposed to be high watching this”.

Another said: “This whole opening ceremony feels like those weird videos they show in between Eurovision entries”.

Many have called the ceremony ‘disappointing’, with some going as far as to dub it ‘the worst ever’.

Another user commented: "I’m actually embarrassed on the behalf of France, this is going down as the worst opening ceremony in history."

A different user also said: "A third commented: "I’m sorry but this has to be the worst Olympic opening ceremony in memory. It’s an interesting idea bringing the athletes in on boats but it looks rubbish and misses the roar of the crowd. Sorry but not for me."

Some, however, dug the weird vibe from France, with one fan posting on X: “Opening ceremony has everything. headless Marie Antoinette, minions stealing the Mona Lisa, mimes on bmx, a masked révolutionnaire twink, metal, fire, can you hear the people sing, veiled threats against the government, ennui, oui oui.

“Always stay weird, France.”
