Viewers left divided after what Bukayo Saka did to reporter on F1 grid walk

Ex Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg said Bukayo Saka wasn't being 'very friendly' after he was asked a question during a F1 grid walk.

The Arsenal winger, 23, was on the grid pre-race at the Spanish Grand Prix with the rest of his international teammates who are set to travel to Andorra for a World Cup qualifier on 6 June.

Without Martin Brundle though, Sky presenter Simon Lazenby and 2016 Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg were on the grid trying to get a word from the stars.

As they spotted the entire England squad just standing there, Lazenby decided to go and ask Saka a question.

"Bukayo, can I have a quick word? We're live on Sky at the moment. We just talked to Harry [Kane], who are you supporting?" Lazenby asked as he pointed the microphone at Saka.

The footballer, however, replied: "Not much to say," while shaking his head.

"We'll move on, then. He’s not very friendly," Rosberg said after the exchange.

Over on X, viewers were left a little divided by the interaction, as one person commented: "So? Is he obliged to talk to someone shoving a microphone in his face on holiday? State of some of you on here."

"He's on holiday. Poor bloke having a nice [time], shoved in his face. He chose not to talk on camera. His choice. Leave him alone," a second said.

"Don't see what the big deal is tbh. People often don't want to talk to reporters on the grid & that includes the drivers themselves," a third viewer agreed.

However, others argued the opposite, as one viewer said: "I understand he didn’t have to say anything, but it would have taken him 10 seconds to say something.

"As a celebrity within an F1 grid, he must have thought the media may be around and may ask to speak to him."

"Big Saka fan, but no idea why he'd even want to be on the grid if he wasn't even slightly prepared to be asked something," another commented.

Before heading up to Saka, the news reporter was able to get a word with England captain Harry Kane.

The Bayern Munich forward said: "I'm good, I'm hot, but looking forward to the race, it's my first one. I watch it as much as I can and with a few of the English guys doing well I'm looking forward to seeing it."

Rosberg then replied: "Harry, I'm a huge Bayern Munich fan, that's my team, so thanks for all your efforts, but who are you rooting for today?"

"I love Lando [Norris] he's been doing great and has got a great chance to win the championship so I'm hoping he can get himself in front today, and of course George [Russell] and Lewis [Hamilton], it'd be good to see them all on the podium," the England striker responded.

LADbible Group has contacted Bukayo Saka's representatives for comment.
