Conor Benn immediately suspended from boxing after brutal knockout
Conor Benn has been suspended from boxing after his two-round defeat to Ryan Garcia in Las Vegas, where his opponent successfully defended the WBC welterweight championship.
Benn took a bit of a battering and was knocked to the canvas in the second round, managing to get to his feet before the referee intervened to stop things at 1:25.
Both boxers have now been suspended from the sport as per the mandatory medical rules to make sure boxers don't do themselves too much harm by rushing back into the ring.
The British boxer was taken to hospital for precautionary checks since he'd been knocked down, and it'll be at least a 30-day suspension from boxing for him since the fight result appears to be a TKO.

A full knockout loss means at least 60 days out of the ring, though since Benn was able to get back onto his feet that may be less likely.
For now Conor Benn is suspended from boxing and the length of time before he can get back into the sport is yet to be determined.
The same principle applies to his victorious opponent, Ryan Garcia might have won the fight within two rounds but the mandatory medical suspension applies to him to to make sure he doesn't do himself undue harm by rushing back.
Garcia's suspension is most likely to be between seven and 14 days.
A mandatory medical suspension is the standard in boxing as the toll the fight and the training for it takes on the body is no joke, so the fighters need the cooldown period afterwards.
Conor Benn is the son of former world champion boxer Nigel Benn, and last year he stepped into the ring twice against the son of his father's rival Chris Eubank.
In the fights between their fathers it'd been a win for Eubank and then a draw in the rematch, between Conor and Chris Jr it was Eubank who took the first win, giving Benn the first defeat of his career, and Conor who won the rematch.
Earlier this year, Benn defeated Regis Prograis ahead of his fight with Garcia, but challenging the WBC welterweight champion ended up being a fight too far for him.
Since he was taken to hospital right after the fight, Benn did not participate in post-fight press.
Garcia did, and said: "I kind of figured he would just come at me crazy.
"Second round, I said I'm tired of him coming forward; I'm going stand my ground a little bit ... and then he got caught with a hellacious one."
