Danny Dyer strips down to his trunks and pours pints in hysterical ad for Euro 2024

Danny Dyer strips down to his trunks and pours pints in hysterical ad for Euro 2024

The ad is capitalising on England's position as the bookies favourites to win the tournament

Danny Dyer has stripped down to his swimming trunks for a hysterical Euro 2024 ad, as the country gears up for this summer's tournament in Germany.

It's been nearly 60 years since England last won an international tournament, with the Three Lions devastating penalty loss during Euro 2020 the latest reminder of all the 'so near, yet so far' moments.

However, this doesn't stop us getting our hopes up every time a competition rolls around and with Euro 2024 just two weeks away, its once again time to dream.

Capitalising on England's rare position as the bookies favourite to win the tournament, former EastEnders actor Dyer has teamed up with Paddy Power and former Three Lions striker Peter Crouch to make produce an entertaining advert.

The advert poked fun at all the common stereotypes associated with being English, including Brexit, bad behaviour abroad and the nation's collective refusal to let go of the 1966 World Cup win.

"The Euros are here and lets have it right, England are everyone's favourites," Dyer says in the opening clip, while pretending to work in a flag covered pub.

Various characters representing the likes Germany, Spain and Italy and Scotland are then questioned on their love of England - responding with painfully accurate stereotypes.

"Egg and Chips por favor please," Dyer asks, while sat at a Spanish resort covered in England flags.

An Italian woman declares her love for English men's fashion sense - before the camera pans over to the four lads who become one of the UK's biggest memes after a night out.

"Mamma Mia," she adds.

Dyer can also be seen ribbing the Scottish national team before ex-Liverpool striker Crouch, decked out head-to-toe in England flags, shouts the classic phrase 'it's coming home'.

Despite England's edge in the competition, Dyer was careful not to be too boastful about England's chances, telling the camera 'I'm proper bricking it right now' as the ad ends.

Fingers crossed England aren't dumped out of the competition in the group stage then.
