Luke Littler urged to change darts walk-on song as fans say it's his 'only downside'

Luke Littler has become the youngest-ever player to reach the PDC World Darts Championship final.

We have unofficially changed our name to LITTLERbible as the 16-year-old darts prodigy is quite clearly the man of the moment.

The teenager has taken the sporting world by storm after becoming the youngest ever player to compete in and reach the PDC World Darts Championship final.

If he wins it this evening (3 January) against world number one Luke Humphries, he will yet again make history as the youngest ever winner.

On his way to the last two, Littler picked up a 6-2 win over Rob Cross in the semi final last night (2 Jan), producing three 130-plus checkouts, averaging 106.05.

“I haven’t got the words. It’s crazy,” he said. “I have just settled on that stage.

“It has not even sunk in yet. I have surprised myself. I have just got to stay focused and be Luke Littler.

“I have got to be mature and be myself. It would be unbelievable if I won it, I only wanted to win one match.”

Having reached the final, Littler is guaranteed an eye-watering £200,000 - and if he manages to go all the way - he'll get a whopping £500,000.

Whilst fans can't get enough of the teenager, there are some who have highlighted a potential chink in his armour.

As with anything, you can't please everyone, and it seems people are complaining about Littler's walk-out song, which is ‘Greenlight’ by Pitbull ft. Flo Rida and LunchMoney Lewis.

Taking to X (Twitter) one person commented: “Littler would definitely want to get a better walkout song if he's gonna be big."

A second said: “Littler has the worst walk-on music I think I’ve seen at the darts.”

While a third added: “Luke Littler has the worst entry music in the history of darts.”

“Nothing makes me feel older than Luke Littler’s walk on music,” a fourth wrote.

Someone else said: “Luke Littler has got a lot to learn in darts. First of all sort that walk-on music out.”

Well, perhaps the highest praise Littler has received so far is from Sky Sports commentator Wayne Mardle.

The iconic pundit - who was calling the semi final - said the 16-year-old is better than three-time world champion Michael van Gerwen was at the same age.

“I have not seen anything like that,” he told PA. “When I was near my pomp, Michael van Gerwen was coming through and I saw him as a 17, 18-year-old and he was incredible, but he was not that good.

Littler has certainly made history in the world of darts.

“That is just different, it is the World Championship, it is different doing it here. There are people who just can’t play like Luke. He has got the ability, the composure under pressure, the belief.

“He has got everything you need to be a champion. Even though he hasn’t won it yet, all that he has been winning has led to this. He is used to winning.

“I have never seen the like and I am not sure we will again. I am gobsmacked.

“Doing the commentary, I am sitting there as a fan, I had to remember to talk, I was watching in awe. Spectacular.

“It has to be the greatest story in darts, what else could it be? It supersedes everything. I have played to a decent enough level to know what is good and bad, this is a different level. I am in awe.”
