Boxing fans are surprised that the fight between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr has been given the go ahead after a video revealing Eubank's brutal cutting regime was shared online.

Earlier today, it was revealed that Eubank had missed the missed the middle weight limit by 0.05lbs ahead of the fight on Saturday (26 April), at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London.

Eubank will now face a fine of £375,000 for being over the weight limit. The boxing pro broke his silence over the drama by sharing a video of his attempts to make the weight.

The gruelling clip shows Eubank in insulated sleeping bags, training on an exercise bike and wearing a sweatsuit.

In another clip, he can be seen taking off a suit while dripping in sweat as he removed the drenched clothing.

"Pain is temporary… Glory is forever," he captioned the post.

He added: "People constantly talking about my weight. The truth is a weight cut is nothing compared to the hardships that life can throw at you. If you can make it through those things you can make it through anything."

After watching the clips, fans were pretty alarmed, with some taking the view that the fight shouldn't be going ahead due to dangers to the boxer's health.

One person wrote: "Fight shouldn't be on," while another added: "What we have here are 2 fighters, neither of which are fighting at their natural weight, just to relive a past rivalry. It is dangerous & should not be happening.

"The promoters should be ashamed of themselves. They should be protecting their fighters, not endangering them."

And a third said: "Your Dads right mate this fight shouldn’t be happening. It’s dangerous cutting weight like this, 7m each fair enough but it is a gimmick fight."

Broadcaster Adam Catterall added: "Eubank has cut weight and missed. Cut weight again and missed. And now he can’t rehydrate.

"Some will see that as a ‘win’ but if you believe in a higher power you better pray he comes out of this safe."

Eubank Sr has spoken about the dangers of his son cutting weight after calling the fight 'a circus'.

In a recent interview with iFL TV, the 58-year-old broke down in tears, and slammed his son's decision to take part in the upcoming fight due to the risks involved.

“Stand up for him by not going along with the nonsense and the circus that's been created for this farce of a fight, which is between one fighter who is at two or three weights above the smaller guy," he said.

"The smaller guy in Conor Benn has had his career destroyed for one fight. My son coming down from 168lbs to 160lbs puts his life in danger. We have a duty of care to fighters."

Eubank Sr also spoke candidly about the tragic death of his own brother, Simon Eubank, who passed away from dementia in 2023.

He said: “My son is having to boil himself down to 160lbs. Three years ago, they were talking about him coming down 157lbs. What is that? This is daylight murder. and when I say murder, you say that’s a bit too strong.

"Yet, my brother died at the hands of the promoters - 20 losses and 27 fights, being brought in as fodder. Do you understand? I'm speaking from experience, I'm speaking about truth here. It’s real for me."
