It's T-miuns three days until the World Cup kicks off in Mexico City, with football fans worldwide hoping (and praying) their team won't be an embarrassment this time around.
This is also the time when everyone locks in their prediction for who will win the tournament, after poring over bookies' odds, recent form and results.
If you're looking to trust the numbers, a German mathematician believes it will be the Netherlands that comes out on top, while reigning champions France appear to have the best odds.
But if you're wanting to add a little divine prophecy to your predictions, why not check out what Brazilian mystic Athos Salomé has to say about the tournament?
Advert
Salomé has made a career out of predicting, which includes everything from Covid to the death of Queen Elizabeth II and even the actions of world leaders such as Donald Trump.
So what does he have to say about the World Cup?

Noting that football is a 'governed by the unpredictable', Salomé is yet to choose one clear winner, instead believing the winning team will be wearing the colour red.
Which excludes hopefuls such as France, Brazil and Argentina.
"I see heavy, deep, dominant colours. Colours of fire. It is an energy of heat, friction and intense force," he said in a recent prediction shared with LADbible.
"The national sides that survive this tournament will be those wrapped in the colours of flame."
So to recap, this means teams that traditionally wear red, or maybe orange.
Comparing this to predictions made by football analysts, the best fits for Salomé's prediction are:
Spain

Nicknamed 'La Roja' (the red) or La Furia Roja (the red fury), Spain is the nation which first springs to mind when hearing this prophecy.
Although Spain did not make it past the round of 16 in Qatar, they are the current European champions after beating England 2-1.
Factor in rising talent such as Lamine Yamal, 2024 Ballon D’Or winner Rodri and Premier League winner David Raya, and it's safe to say that Spain has a pretty strong chance of winning.
Portugal

Another team that largely plays in red are Spain's neighbour, Portugal.
Likely to be the last opportunity Cristiano Ronaldo will have at adding a World Cup trophy to his collection, the 41-year-old will be hoping to see his side go all the way.
This tracks with a prediction made by fellow Brazilian psychic Michael Bruno, who told Globo Esporte: "Since 2022, I’ve been announcing the next champion team. Since then, I’ve been stating that Portugal will be the world champion."
England

Finally, a prediction which isn't all doom and gloom for the Three Lions.
It's been 60 years of hurt since Bobby Moore lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy at Wembley, and England fans up and down the country are once again hoping that finally, finally, this is our year.
Although England's main kit has always been white, 2026's away kit is red, just like the 1966 team that beat West Germany.
The Netherlands

Although the Dutch team don't play in red, Salomé pointed out that the side's traditional orange is also the colours of the flame, which means we shouldn't be counting out a triumph from the Oranje.
What about everyone else?
Salomé also noted a handful of other teams as potential contenders, such as France ('red accents on their traditional kit'), Morocco (another team which has a predominantly red kit) and Argentina (a team with 'pure heat and intensity').
There are also teams like Norway, Turkey and Switzerland who play in red, but it doesn't look like 39-year-old rates them at the current moment.
