Pubs will be granted permission to stay open past 1am for England's match against Mexico under emergency measures, according to a report from The Sun.

England are set to face Mexico at the Azteca on Sunday after a scrappy win over DR Congo, which will be during the early hours of Monday morning due to time differences.

The outlet claims that Keir Starmer is planning to table an emergency law in Parliament which would allow boozers to stay open for the late World Cup kick-off, which is expected to run until at least 3am in the morning.

The decision comes after the Home Office allowed pubs to remain open until 2am during knockout stage matches.
