Apple Launches AirTag To Help You Find Lost Keys

Apple has launched a whole load of new products, including the AirTag - a small tracker that helps you find your keys and phone.

They connect to the company's Find My app and basically help you to keep tabs on anything you can attach it to, including your bag or suitcases (when we can travel again). Having been rumoured for a while, the products were officially launched at Apple's Spring Loaded virtual product launch today (20 April).

The AirTag comes in packs of one and four, and costs $29 and $99 respectively. They'll be available to buy from 30 April.

Kaiann Drance, Apple's vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, said: "We're excited to bring this incredible new capability to iPhone users with the introduction of AirTag, leveraging the vast Find My network, to help them keep track of and find the important items in their lives.

"With its design, unparalleled finding experience, and built-in privacy and security features, AirTag will provide customers with another way to leverage the power of the Apple ecosystem and enhance the versatility of iPhone."

The AirTag itself is lightweight and water and dust resistant. It has a built in speaker to help locate it, as well as a cover to replace the battery.

They connect via Bluetooth in the same way that AirPods do - just move it closer to an iPhone and it automatically connects.

Any items the AirTag is attached to can have their own name, so you know exactly where all your stuff is at any given time.

Once it's all set up, it will simply appear in the 'new items' tab in the Find My app. Users can then see its current location, or its last known. If it gets lost, the item can play a sound to help the user locate it.

The tech company also launched other products, including a brand new iMac.

The new desktop PC has been completely overhauled for the first time in years and will be the first to use Apple's own chips, which debuted in the MacBook Air, Pro and Mac Mini last year.

It has a 24-inch display, which is only slighter larger than the existing 21.5-inch model, but benefits from a reduced size around the screen, according to Apple.

It will come in an array of pastel colours and also has a new camera, which is at the top of the display. This was done with the recent increase in video calls in mind. It also has an improved mic to give better audio quality in video meetings.
