Guy Pretends To Be Jack Bauer, Prompts Bomb Scare At University

What an idiot...

Everybody does stupid things when they're drunk. One time I fell asleep while taking a shit at a party (yeah, I'm THAT guy) and loads of people kept knocking to come in but I was just spark out with my pants down.

The consequence of that was simply that people had to ignore the 'Do not go upstairs or my mum will go apeshit' sign on the stairs and go to the bog on the landing. No harm, no foul.

Joshua Berrabah however, he doesn't understand the line between getting drunk and doing something stupid that causes no harm and getting drunk and doing something stupid that will land you in court with a prison sentence.

The 24-year-old had clearly just spent the day on a Jack Bauer binge because he decided to call up the police and make up a fake bomb threat pretending to be the 24 character.

He even asked to speak to Bill Buchanan and Karen Hayes, characters from the show, at around 4am on April 3, having told the call handler two bombs had been placed at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge.

As you might have noticed, the hoax call was made less than a week after the horrifying terror attack on Brussels. Total tit.

Police officers were quickly dispatched to the university where they found a 'drunk and disorderly' Berrabah attempting to climb into St Matthew's School, near the university.
Prosecutor Caroline Allison told Cambridge Crown Court: "He said Britain was under terrorist attack, he was 'the first responder on site' and two bombs had been planted. He described one bomb as 'waste-like and set on its side' while another was a 'wallet type iPhone device'.

"He said he was being followed by seven people but couldn't give a description of them because if he turned round he would be shot."

The call lasted a full three minutes and 44 seconds and was followed by two more calls from Berrabah who was said to be slurring his words.

Of course, when police arrived they found no bombs and Berrabah was arrested. Once he sobered up he admitted it was a hoax and he'd been drinking since 8pm the day before.

He was said to be 'upset and embarrassed' when the hoax call was played back to him.

Berrabah admitted communicating false information about a bomb hoax and was sentenced to serve eight months in prison suspended for 18 months. He will also have to do 250 unpaid community work and pay £350 in court costs.

You wouldn't catch Jack Bauer doing something so utterly ridiculous and he's been putting himself in danger for eight seasons and 192 episodes. Sometimes it's alright not to follow your idols - Joseph has had to learn that the hard way.
