Heatwave Could Arrive In Britain Next Month With Temperatures Up To 26C

Let's bloody well hope so.

Hey! Guess what! According to the Met Office, we could be looking at a decent upturn in the weather pretty damn soon.

That'd be nice, right? We've seen it in flashes already this year - remember that mad couple of days in February? - but this latest forecast could be the actual start of springtime.

According to the forecast, some parts of Britain could see temperatures as high as 26C. That's bloody hot, wherever you are.

This is because we're going to get a load of plumes of hot air coming up all the way from Africa, and it's famously quite warm in parts of Africa, isn't it?

If you're someone who likes a gamble, some bookies have actually slashed odds on it being the warmest spring ever. Bookmakers aren't often wrong about stuff - they'd be out of a job if they were.

So, here's the Met Office. They said: "For March-May, above-average temperatures are more likely than below-average.

"The probability UK average temperatures will fall into the warmest of our five categories is 50 per cent. The coldest category is 10 per cent.

"Some long-range prediction systems indicate an increased chance of high pressure to the south of the UK."

Brian Gaze, a forecaster from The Weather Outlook, told The Sun: "With computer models strongly favouring a warm spring, there is potential for the record for the hottest spring to be challenged.

"Highs of 26C are likely in April. Plumes of warm air from Africa are expected.

"And there is an increased chance of a hot and settled summer due to the trend for more high pressure, which brings hot conditions in summer."

So, where's the catch? There's always a catch.

As per usual, if you live in the North West, you might not see the best of the weather. There's a good chance of some the folks in the North and West might get some rain, in fact.

In the meantime, we might see a decent improvement this week. Highs of 18C might be seen as early as Friday.

Met Office meteorologist Becky Mitchell said: "It is warming up - it's not going to be exceptionally warm but it'll be better than the past couple of days.

"On Monday it will be around 13C, which is slightly cooler than the 15C we had on Sunday but won't feel too bad.

"A band of high pressure will mean it will be dry across most of the country, with patches of cloud in some places but with sunny spells.

"The best sunshine will be in the south and east, continuing through to Friday. By Thursday, we should be looking at temperatures of around 17C.

"Some of northern Scotland could see some drizzle but that won't affect many people.

"The weather will turn a bit more unsettled by the weekend, but it should be turning nicer as we head into April."

That's alright then.
