A woman was left stunned by what came through her letterbox while she excitedly waited for her McDonald's Monopoly prize to arrive.
Chloe McClure was over the moon when she 'finally' won something on one of the peel-off stickers that the fast food giant sticks onto drinks and meals annually.
There was a host of incredible prizes up for grabs this year when the promotion went live in September, including grub, Maccies merch, £100,000 in cash, as well as travel and experiences.
After peeling to reveal, Chloe discovered that she had won a coveted McDonald’s Monopoly board, which is a limited edition version of the classic board game.

One is currently listed on eBay for a whopping £104.68, to give you a bit of an idea about just how much of a hot commodity these are.

Chloe was inevitably quite excited about the prospect of receiving hers, so you can imagine her utter disappointment when she received an empty cardboard box instead.
Taking to TikTok to share her disbelief, she said in a short clip: "Hi Royal Mail, is this a joke? You've just given me a scrappy cardboard box...is this a joke?"
Chloe then captioned the video: "I want my McDonald’s Monopoly Game. Clearly, someone at Royal Mail wanted it too."

In the footage shared online, she can be seen handling a plastic bag, which appeared to contain the remnants of a cardboard box that her board game was presumably parcelled up in.
The bag sported a message from Royal Mail which read: "We're very sorry the enclosed item has reached you in this condition.
"If the contents are damaged or anything is missing, you may be able to claim for your loss. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience or upset this incident might have caused."

It turns out did cause a lot of upset for the Scotswoman, as she told social media users she was 'actually low-key excited' about her prize arriving 'because she has never won anything'.

Sharing more context in the comment section of her post, a 'disappointed' Chloe said: "I don’t get McDonald’s often, so the fact I won had me feeling great.
"They are lucky it’s so funny and wasn’t something I’d actually paid for because I’d be so angry."
Chloe described the message emblazoned on the plastic bag as a 'kick in the teeth', while adding: "Oh, nothing [is missing], just the contents and 95 percent of the box."
She went on to point out that the McDonald's Monopoly board she was meant to receive was 'not a tiny little thing', so she can't understand how it somehow escaped its packaging.
A string of social media users also flooded the comment section with their own postal complaints, while Chloe explained she had since got in touch with Royal Mail to try and remedy the issue.

She then joked that she had also emailed McDonald's in the hopes that they 'take pity' on her and sort out a replacement.
One person commented: "'If the contents are damaged or anything is missing'?? Everything is missing wdym!"
Another added: "Did you win anything good though? The most I've won is like 10% off something I can't afford."
A third chimed in: "Unfortunately we have to still deliver even like that. Us posties find it sooooo embarrassing!!!! But we do as we are told."

While a fourth wrote: "Even when people win - they don’t win."
Chloe's video has since been viewed more than 443,000 times, while Royal Mail issued an apology for the sorry state her parcel arrived in.
A spokesperson told the Mirror: "We’re sorry to hear of this customer’s experience and would encourage them to get in touch using the contact details on the package.
"Items pass through a large, complex network involving automated sorting machines and manual handling and while the vast majority are delivered safely, on rare occasions, like this one, an item may be damaged.
"For example, if a letter or packet is caught in machinery. When this happens, we’ll still deliver the item in a protective ‘damage bag’ with a letter explaining how to report the issue."
LADbible has contacted Royal Mail for further comment, as well as McDonald's.
