When it comes to professions that shouldn't mix with adult content, teaching is probably top of the tree, as one woman found out the hard way after she was sacked from her role as a physics teacher in a secondary school three years ago.
Glasgow teacher Kirsty Buchan has hit the news after it was revealed she was let go from her job at Bannerman High School after pupils downloaded and shared images she'd been posting on her explicit OnlyFans page.
Buchan appeared on Good Morning Britain earlier this week to chat about the ordeal and left host Susanna Reid shocked after sharing more details about why her account was set up and how it was ultimately discovered.
Kirsty appeared on This Morning to share her story recently (ITV) 'I didn't think I was going to get caught'
Buchan - whose bio read 'good teacher gone bad' - confessed she 'didn't think' she was going to get caught for making spicy content on the platform.
"The saying 'good teacher gone bad', a lot of people pretend to be teachers on the site," she explained. "I didn't think I would be caught. I didn't think I would be famous."
The 34-year-old, who went by the pseudonym 'Jessica Jackrabbit' on the adult content site, had already been warned by headteacher Seonaidh Black about the fact her social media profiles were public which meant they could be viewed by students.
Kirsty was struck off in 2022 (Kirsty Buchan) How was Kirsty Buchan's OnlyFans found?
Her Instagram profile, which could be found by simply googling her name, had her OnlyFans profile linked in the bio.
She advertised the paid-for page using her Instagram which pupils could see despite being previously cautioned by the headteacher over her social media use.
The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) found that Buchan had failed to conceal her identity and profession, and that her behaviour lacked integrity.
An email was sent to the head from what appeared to be a parent of a pupil, sharing pictures of Buchan topless and in lingerie.
What happened to Buchan after and what has the school said?
Black said the school had tried to make sure young people felt 'valued for who they are, not thinking everything is about what's on show on social media' and ultimately it was decided at a hearing that Buchan would be struck off after the discovery of the account.
She said: "What doesn't help is when your teacher is on a website where the content they are presenting has a pornographic element to it.
The school's head has since spoken out (Kirsty Buchan/ITV) "We're trying to say 'this is what life is all about' and the role model – the teacher – is countering what we're trying to teach."
Buchan says she was making as much as £60k a month from her sexual exploits on the platform. But, she also claimed that she simply wanted to provide for her young son and had already tried getting other second jobs before eventually turning towards OnlyFans as a new stream of income.
She said: "I didn't want to leave my job, but I also had to make more money. I even had other jobs before going down the OnlyFans road – I worked in Tesco, I worked as an elf at a Braehead Christmas event. I was always a hard worker.
"My images were illegally downloaded and shared with pupils in the school that I worked in – the career that I worked my whole life to get. So I had no choice but to leave."
However, the mum-of-one did accept responsibility for her decision to become an OnlyFans creator while working as a teacher, revaling during her GMB interview: "We all need to take responsibility, of course I knew the risks involved.
"I'm a mum at the end of the day, my son comes first, paying my bills comes first."
