Brits are getting a little bit excited after discovering a major meal deal hack that's gone viral over on X.

The hack was shared to the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, with more than 400,000 people viewing it in its first 24 hours.

An institution of the British psyche, the supermarket meal deal is a rite of passage for anyone at university or working in the office.

Run out of time to prep lunch the night before? Meal deal. Feeling lazy? Meal deal. After a pretty decent combo of goods for below face value? Meal deal.

Some have been put off after seeing how the sandwiches are made, saying they'll 'never eat one again'.

Others have also been a little p*ssed off at what counts as a 'main' course in a Tesco meal deal.

But you can't please everyone.

On the complete other hand, Sainsbury's is about to get a rush of people buying its meal deals after this viral post over on X.

The supermarket is currently in turmoil after a glitch on their app gave people a window to fraudulently use coupons to get massive discounts, including one chap who bagged an air fryer for 18p.

But Sainsbury's is about to get a whole new fanbase with this meal deal hack.

It concerns the 'snack' part of the meal, which many people use to get a bag of crisps, fruit box, or a chocolate bar.

For those with a sweet tooth, you've been missing out.

Posting to X, user Evie Aspinall wrote: "PSA: You can get ice cream as your 'snack' in the Sainsbury's meal deal.

"Magnums, Twisters, Cornettos, the lot.

"I just had a Magnum as a mid afternoon snack and life has never been better."

Evie then posted 'evidence for those who want it', showing the freezer of individually wrapped and packaged ice creams with clear as day 'meal deal' stickers and logos in front of them all.

Other ice creams included in Evie's local were Oreo ice cream sandwiches, Flake 99 cones, Calippos, Soleros, and Feasts. An unreal selection in our opinion.

As you can imagine, people have got a little silly when it comes to responding to the post.

"This changes everything," one X user said.

A second wrote: "Revolutionary."

And a third posted: "I’m going to Sainsbury’s for lunch tomorrow then [cry laughing emoji]."

A fourth posted: "That has blown my mind. However - eat your sandwich / wrap / salad first and risk the ice cream melting? Or be forced into a weird sweet-first/savoury-after situation? A Nectar dilemma."

Another revealed another snack, saying: "If your Sainsbury's does freshly squeezed orange juice, that counts as the drink."
