Plans to construct a first Universal Studios theme park in the UK have had an update as a new railway station is going to be built for all the people who want to visit.

Rumours about the new theme park was first began in 2023 with some land acquired in Bedfordshire, and Universal confirming they would be exploring the possibility of using the site for a new development.

Construction is expected to start next year, and the theme park is supposed to be opening a few years from now in 2031.

Universal is expected to build a four zone park and a 500-room hotel. The rides we can expect have not yet been confirmed, but given some of the properties underneath the Universal umbrella you'd be hoping for something Harry Potter related.

Rides based on The Simpsons, Minions and Men in Black have also featured in other Universal theme parks.

Page Thompson, the Universal Destinations & Experiences' president in charge of new ventures, previously told Sky News they would be building 'a world-class park' with attractions focused around 'the most popular films, video games and stories'.

The theme park is expected to boost the economy by £50 billion, creating 20,000 construction jobs and 8,000 more on-site jobs.

One of the things that has to be sorted out is getting thousands of people there and back again.

How fortunate then, that there is a railway line being developed which will go right by the Universal Studios theme park and there's going to be a stop for it.

This is the East West Rail line, which is meant to provide a direct link between Oxford and Cambridge, and according to the BBC a stop at Stewartby will be the place to go for those who want to see the park.

During peak times up to five trains an hour will run on the line 'to help cater for people wanting to travel to Universal Studios theme park'.

There is already a Stewartby railway station, but the plan is to move it, and the whole railway expansion scheme is expected to cost between £5 and £6 billion.

While the railway line might cost a few billion you've got to spend money to make money.

Everything is still waiting to be built and it'll be years before the Universal park or the railway links to it are completed but once everything is in place it's expected to be worth the wait.
